The Eswatini sugar industry is one of the world’s leading cost competitive producers of high quality sugar and makes an important contribution to employment in sugarcane growing areas, to sustainable development and to the national economy. According to an LMC International Benchmarking Cost of Production Study concluded in November 2016, Eswatini ranked 3rd lowest cost producer when benchmarked against its regional competitors in Southern Africa as well as global major exporters.
